WHITEHAVEN Rugby League has announced the signing of forward Kian McPherson from neighbours Workington Town.
Stepping up to the professional game with Town last season McPherson struggled with a long-standing injury which limited the forward to making just one appearance last season as he made his professional bow.
However, the former Millom man scored nine tries in 17 appearances for the side in their successful promotion campaign in 2023 and made a memorable impact in his debut open-age season for the club in 2019, scoring a hat-trick as a 16-year-old.
Haven head coach Anthony Murray said: "Kian showed lots of promise in the community game before signing for Workington last season. Unfortunately Kian had a bad ankle break just before pre season started and missed most of last season.
"He worked really hard on his rehab and managed to play one senior game.
"He is a big strong middle and only knows one way to run that’s straight and hard.
"I’m sure with a good pre-season under his belt Kian will show what he is capable of and will be a key forward for us this season."
