WHITEHAVEN Rugby League has announced the loan signing of Sam Ackroyd from Bradford Bulls and the permanent signing of Callum Shaw from Hull FC.

Hooker or half-back Sam Ackroyd will not be available for selection until the Dewsbury away clash in Round 21 after picking up a suspension playing Bulls reserves last month but will be a valuable addition going into the final weeks of the season.

Callum Shaw is a winger who joins the club on a permanent deal and will step up after having signed a contract for the remainder of the 2024 season. Shaw came recommended after contact from former Haven loanee Davy Litten who has played with Shaw at Hull in the reserves setup this season.

In a post on social media, Whitehaven RL wrote: "The club has signed a dual registration agreement which will allow Callum to head back and play for Hull reserves if not selected for Jonty Gorley’s squad to ensure he continue to receive game if required.

"The duo come into the club alongside the trio of Mac Walsh, Ben Hursey, and Sam Campbell who made their debuts in yesterday's 12-24 defeat to Widnes Vikings."
