WHITEHAVEN RL's head coach Jonty Gorley has spoken out ahead of this Sunday's game.
The West Cumbrian side will take on Widnes on Sunday, August 4, at The Ortus Rec.
Speaking to Jordan Weir, Mr Gorley said: "In training on Tuesday we had a few lads who couldn't do anything, so we changed it up.
"We had a walk and did a few miles then the lads went for a dip, there were eight or nine players available on Tuesday so we couldn't have done anything really.
"Those eight or nine were a bit busted and bruised from the pitch at Sheffield. We just did the same at tonight's session and warmed them up.
"We did some games and had a bit of fun so hopefully it will have done a world of good.
"It's not ideal after what happened last week and if you've got 20-odd players, I'd have had a bit of a go with them and done a bit of teamwork but we're not in that position. I just had to deal with what we've got and that's what we did this week.
"I was going down there thinking that if we do what we did in the second half against Swinton we'll stand a good chance of asking a lot of questions of Sheffield. But we were nowhere near what we were, and we completed one set at the start and then the first good ball set we didn't complete and then they scored.
"We didn't see the ball from 11 minutes until 30 minutes, I think we had the ball for four tackles for 25 minutes I've never seen a game like it. We weren't good let's put it that way.
"I know exactly what went wrong with being there on Sunday. I haven't even done a review with the lads this week, I've put the game in the group and if they want to watch it then they can.
"I'm holding them accountable for what happened, we had two great weeks previous to the game and got a great win away at Swinton and had a similar week in training."
