WHITEHAVEN RL suffered a defeat against Toulouse in their recent game.

The West Cumbrian side came away with a 24-34 defeat against the French outfit when they faced them at the Ortus Rec on Saturday, July 13.

Despite the loss, the Haven performed well against the strong French side.

Head coach Jonty Gorley said: "It's disappointing, especially after last week. This is what this team is like they're Jekyll and Hyde, they weren't good at all last week and then we put in a performance like that in the first 35 minutes to be 18-0 up against a real good side.

"They were a bit off but I think it was the pressure that we put on them defensively that made them spill a few balls.

"So 18-0 up you should be finishing games off, that's two or three times that we've been 18-0 but we don't finish games off.

"Just because we don't do the right thing, in the second half it wasn't a good kick it went twenty metres, gave a restart and a tackle, then we're behind the sticks two minutes into the second half and that's after they've got a try at the end of the first half.

"It was one of our errors again, we knock on with a first tackle in a good ball, they're on a restart and they go the length and score.

"That gives them a bit of a leg up at halftime, and they get that try two minutes into the second half and you just see with our lads the life get sucked right out of them.

"You don't know what it is, I think they feel as though they're heads are down. They'll do the right thing again, and you get back in the game which I thought we did.

"We scored to go 24-18 up and we don't deal with the kick-off, and they score off us not dealing with the kick-off that set. We kick off again and they score again, then we kick off and it goes out on the full so they get a tap on halfway and score again."
