WHITEHAVEN AFC U16s competed in the Cumberland FA County Cup Semi-Final on Sunday.
The conditions were perfect for a great game between friends and rivals as the Whitehaven AFC U16s took on the Allerdale Tigers Team at the County Ground.
After ten minutes the visitors took the lead with Allerdale striker Holly Moffatt scoring first.
Within a minute captain Molly Blair scored taking away Allerdale's lead. Whitehaven then tried to assert dominance and after some strong play at teamwork, Molly was able to score her second goal, making it 2-1.
Allerdale continued with a strong performance and soon changed the scoreline to 2-2. A similar scene happened then happened as Whitehaven didn't let their emotions get the better of them scoring a third goal within a minute of Allerdale's.
Whitehaven had the opportunity to have gone another two goals up as they hit the bar twice.
Destiny Campbell put a picture-perfect ball in from a corner and Molly Blair caught it on the volley on the edge of the box with a thunderous volley that was inches from going in.
Allerdale reacted very well to this setback and defender and star player Tiegan Hargrave for Allerdale found herself in acres of space on the left in the attacking third.
With no support, Tiegan kept going and going down the bye line and unleashed a wicked shot which made it 3-3 at halftime.
In the second half, Whitehaven got off to a great start with Ella Beadsmore quickly making the game 4-3.
Destiny Campbell then went on to score again making the game 5-3. Moments later Molly Blair was given the opportunity and scored a hat trick, securing Whitehaven a 6-3 victory.
The Whitehaven AFC U16s head coach Rob Campbell said: "I’m extremely proud of the girls today, Allerdale Tigers are an extremely well-run team with great coaches and players, so we were always going to have to earn it.
"I thought the girls played brilliantly, and I’d like to make a special mention to Ava Greeson who was chosen by Allerdale Tigers as our best player on the day, and I think she was superb."
