TWO stalwarts at a local football club have been awarded for their hard work over the years.
Bobby Doyle and Barry Close have been presented with long service awards by The Football Association for their work at Cleator Moor Celtic Football Club.
The pair have been praised for their hard work over the years by the club.
A spokesperson from Cleator Moor Celtic said: "Going into 2024 we look back a week and celebrate a couple of Cleator Moor Celtic icons being presented with well-deserved awards.
"Two Cleator Moor Celtic stalwarts have been honoured and were presented with The Football Association long service awards.
"Bobby Doyle and Barry Close have both served football in a number of capacities for over 50 years.
"Barry has for over 30 years helped the Celtic Club with his committee work and fronted our successful lottery bid that took almost five years to complete for which the new club site era began.
"Bobby has been player, captain, chairman, and our club ambassador and now holds the role of president and has served the club for nearly 65 years. Both are true ambassadors for voluntary work within sport and our community.
"The awards were presented by Cumberland FA CEO Ben Snowdon and chairman Adam Pattinson."
