Cleator Moor boxer Ben Clements was in action against Dave Wreay from Morecambe in Blackburn on Saturday, October 7.
In round 1, Wreay set off using his jab in long-range combinations against the slower Clements, he kept low and got under his punches countering from body to head with fast combinations.
He gained the upper hand, landing the cleaner punches, and won the round.
In round 2, Clements grew in confidence putting over the better of the exchanges. Wreay boxed back and made the round competitive but Clements got the better of the exchanges, landed the cleaner punches, and won the round.
In round 3, Clements set off fast-catching Wreay off-balance, fortunately, the referee gave a standing count, Clements then turned his attack throwing powerful combinations forcing the referee to stop the contest.
Clements is now the North West Regional Development Champion at 52 to 54 KJ and is now in the national quarter finals of England.
Club coach, Arron Adair, said: "I'm pleased with Ben's performance, he coped well against a tall, long-range, opponent and he's a credit to the club."
