Football has given fans four glorious weeks of excitement and hope, despite the heartache of yet another penalty shootout defeat, and marred by racial abuse and violence.
As a Euros 2020 encore, we bring you a nostalgic look at the youngsters who play for the fun of it and dream of playing for their country.
This is the game as it should be. We have girls and boys here learning new skills, playing to win but, above all, having fun.
This is junior football at its best and that is due, in large doses, to the men and women who give up their time to volunteer, to wash the kit and to support their children in rain, hail — and hopefully some sunshine!
And thanks to their efforts there may well be another Dean Henderson going on to play in the Premier League, or to represent their country. Whatever happens, it should be fun.
