The relaxing of outdoor social mixing regulations allowed the Whitehaven Sailing and Boating Association to run its first race of the season at the weekend.
Six locally owned yachts competed for the Prologue Trophy on a bright day with light winds.
The course set from the start/finish line south of the harbour, north to a buoy set off Whitey Rock then out to the South Workington Cardinal buoy.
The return leg back to the Whitey Rock buoy was the followed by a final loop between the finish line and Whitey Rock.
There was a close finish to the 2.5-hour race with Kon Tiki crossing the line 17 secs in front of 7th Heaven and Urchin 8 mins later.
Urchin (A&D Tomlinson) took the Trophy by 7 minutes on handicap from 7th Heaven (A&K French).
Third was Kon Tiki (D&S O’Reilly), 4th Wild Theme (H. Price), 5th Erythea (A&A Moore), First Adventure (C. Parr) ret.
The next race in the series of ten is the Spring Cup on May 1, 1pm start.
