A fast and furious sprint saw West Cumberland Orienteering Club continue their series of Thursday night events in Workington.
On the 3km long course at Vulcan Park, Great Britain orienteer Dan Spencer set the pace, taking the win in an impressive 15:22.
Coming in second, Charlie Rennie showed good form to finish in 16:16 and Joe Sunley took third in 16:26.
First senior was Jamie Rennie in fourth in 17:57.
In the women’s competition, Caitlin Irving was first lady in 10th, Caitlin Pearson was 12th and Kate Charles was 17th.
On the 1.8km short course the competition was exceptionally tight and dominated by the club’s junior members, with no fewer than six runners within a minute of winner Wilf Teasdale who took the win in 08:55.
Emma Crawford was second in 08:58, Issy Sunley third in 09:03, Danny Winterbottom fourth in 09:15, Daniel Heppell fifth in 09:29, Daisy Rennie sixth in 09:30 and Isaac Hunter seventh in 09:53.
First senior male was Carl Hunphreys in eighth and first senior female was Sally Heppell in 12th, ahead of Rebecca Crellin in 13th and Kamila Winterbottom in 15th.
The club’s events are set to continue each Thursday, with pre-entry required.
