Whitehaven RUFC ended their season with a victory on Saturday – and lifted the Cumbria Shield to boot.
The Playground-based side finished the league season with a home game against fellow town rivals St Benedict’s, with Whitehaven coming out on top 31-5.
And having won all their Cumbria League Group 1B matches in the second half of the season they were awarded the Cumbria Shield.
Whitehaven’s score came from tries by Jamie Martin (2), Lee Jones, and Dylan Hurton, plus four conversions and a penalty goal by Steve McConnell.
The Cumbria Shield was presented to Whitehaven by the Cumbia RFU Representative Mr John Rogers.
