Workington Reds officials are appealing to fans to help them ensure Saturday's clash with title challengers, South Shields goes ahead.
The club is desperate to get the Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture on, especially after last weekend's clash with North Ferriby United fell foul of the weather.
So supporters are being asked to turn up at Borough Park on Saturday morning to help remove the pitch covers and, if necessary, fork some areas of the playing surface.
A club statement said: "Heavy rain is forecast over the next few days so ground staff have borrowed some covers from Carlisle United in an attempt to keep water off the problem areas.
"They will be in place for the next 36 hours.
"Volunteers are being asked to turn up at the ground (from 8am) with a garden fork and help the groundsman give this important fixture every chance of going ahead."
