Whitehaven Sharks under-7s played an entertaining tournament at Keswick RUFC, fielding two strong teams.
The young sides also gave debuts to Myles Barwise and Flynn Madrick to add to their existing squad, both impressing everyone with their performances and attitude.
The Sharks played six matches throughout the morning against teams from Keswick, Cockermouth, Penrith, Carlisle and St Benedict’s.
The games, which are not scored, entertained all supporters in the winter sunshine with both Sharks teams displaying high levels of skills.
The defensive line and determination to make a “tag” was excellent throughout while the crispness of the passing and the selflessness of the players was really starting to show as well as some flashes of individual brilliance.
From one to 12 all the Sharks played their hearts out and the coaches expressed their pride afterwards on their friendship and teamwork.
Coaches thanked all the travelling parents and supporters as well as sponsors Clarks of Whitehaven for helping make special memories for all the kids.
The Whitehaven Sharks will be extending their playing teams next year to include under-7 8s, 10, 11s and 16s.
If anyone is interested in playing, coaching or supporting in an administrative role please contact the club or Facebook page.
