A tribute to honour the late Dave Myers has been unveiled in the Hairy Biker’s hometown.

A pub in Barrow has teamed up with a local artist to paint a stunning mural dedicated to Dave, who sadly passed away in February 2024.

The Kings on Dalton Road now showcases a beautiful mural.

The pub is owned by Amber Taverns, who have been working with local artist, Shawn Sharpe.

Shawn used to live in Barrow and still has family in the town so when discussions were taking place concerning a mural on the Kings, he was first in line.

Originally, Shawn was planning to paint a design relating to the Shipyard but saw a lot of people requesting a mural of Dave online.

“The mural was requested by a lot of the community in the Dave Day group,” Shawn said, “So I put a post up to say I would be willing to paint a mural but only if the Myers family approved.

“Liliana reached out to me, the main portrait in the mural came from Liliana directly, and the rest was from reference images. I didn't want to over complicate it, I just wanted to capture Dave the best I can and respect Lili at the same time.”

The dates for Dave Day 2025 were revealed at the weekend, read more here.

“I'm really happy with the finished mural,” Shawn said, “Nine out of ten times, I turn down commissions that want well know faces painting.

“I was a little bit nervous going into this one because I know how much Dave is loved, I had to get this right!

“I can't quite believe the reaction from the community this weekend. I have felt the love from the Barrovian community.”

The mural Shawn was planning to paint on The Kings will still be created, just in a different location. Keep your eyes peeled!
