A WOMAN from Seascale found an 'extremely unusual' site whilst walking her dogs along a West Cumbrian beach- when she spotted a huge jellyfish washed up on the shore.

Louise Pegram was walking her dogs along Seascale beach this morning, November 21 when she stumbled across several different varieties of jellyfish scattered along the shore- including what is thought to be a huge barrel jellyfish.

The jellyfish are said to be unusual to find in the area throughout the winter period, with Louise not spotting one of the creatures for the least two months.

Speaking about the jellyfish, Louise said: "I found it this morning on my daily beach walk with my dogs .

"Obviously we see many different varieties during the summer months. I have been stuck a few times when I go swimming in the sea.

"But it’s extremely unusual to see any through the winter. There were several different varieties scattered along the beach this morning. I haven’t seen one in about two month.

"We mostly get compass jellyfish and barrel jellyfish around here which sting but, from personal experience, is quite a mild sting."
