Millom and Haverigg residents can catch the bus again after Stagecoach reinstated previously axed routes.

The company has introduced new timetables and routes, including the reintroduction of service seven, which provides three journeys a day from Monday to Saturday between Millom and Barrow.

A new route, the M1, provides nine journeys Monday to Saturday from Millom to Haverigg.

These new services represent the first phase of a £2.5 million bus improvement initiative funded by Cumberland Council.

Tom Waterhouse, managing director of Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire, said: "We’re delighted to be able to restore services to Millom and Haverigg thanks to funding from Cumberland Council.

"With adult fares currently capped at just £2, bus travel is a fabulous bargain and I’d encourage local residents to try out the new services.

"You’d struggle to park a car for £2, never mind the fuel."

Stagecoach has also introduced its winter timetable on service six between Barrow and Windermere.

The route will operate up to eight buses daily from Monday to Saturday and six on Sundays.

All Sunday buses and select weekday services will extend to Kendal.
