THREE people have been deported following an immigration raid in Whitehaven.

Officers from Copeland Police assisted the Home Office's North West Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) as two businesses in Whitehaven were visited on Friday, November 8. 

Following the visits, ICE took action on four individuals, with three set to be deported from the UK. 

Copeland Police said: "PC 3157, PC 2699, and PCSO 5304 have assisted Home Office colleagues from North West Immigration Compliance and Enforcement (ICE) this evening.

"Two businesses in Whitehaven were visited and ICE took action on four individuals.

"Three of which will be leaving the country on the next available flight.

"ICE can issue fines for up to £65,000 to businesses proven to employ illegal workers.

"ICE takes full responsibility for these investigations but Officers enjoyed supporting and learned a lot from the ICE team."
