GIRLS from a Furness dance group showed off their skills alongside hundreds of other competitors at one of the biggest, busiest and toughest competitions in the North West.
Members of Elite Dance and Fitness Studio in Dalton competed at the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom for Cheerdance UK.
With over 70 dancers in each class, it is one of the largest competitions in the area.
Individuals compete in multiple dances and are called back numerous times across the day until they reach a six-person final.Myla Fisher, aged eight, claimed a hat trick of wins in Dance Three, Fusion Solo and the pairs section with her partner Kiera.
This is the second year running that Myla has brought home wins in both solo classes.
Her dad Greg said: 'We are so proud watching Myla do something that she loves and days like this make all the sacrifices worth it.
“She misses out on some other children's activities but she never complains and is always working on her craft.”
Myla dances five to six nights a week and competes in Street, Cheer, Lyrical and Tap.
Her family spends most of their weekends travelling around the North West taking Myla to different dance competitions.
At the weekend, she was joined by her younger sister Emmie Fisher, who was competing in the Under Three Years section and brought home two eighth-place trophies.
Their cousin Kenya Kafanke also competed, bringing home second place in 11 and Under Fusion and a win in the team section.
All three girls are competing again in Blackburn this weekend and the following weekend in Accrington.
Elite Dance teacher Hannah Kendall White said: “The tower ballroom is one of the busiest and toughest comps of the year with some dance rounds starting with on average 70 dancers.
“We had dancers making every final, two dancers Myla and Islay achieving Hat tricks, closely followed by kids achieving a double win.
“This is outstanding for a comp of this scale, some rounds where we entered four children, we had all four making the podium - meaning they were marked the highest of almost 70 children.
“Elite was up against 32 other dance schools, so it really is incredible as a teacher to see that the training they are getting in the studio, and the hours we all put in really does show on the competition floor.”
