TWO people have been arrested after police received reports of fireworks being thrown from a moving vehicle in Whitehaven.
Copeland Police received reports of the incident, which took place at Bridges Retail Park, Whitehaven on Monday, November 4.
Following the incident, two males were arrested under Section 80 of the Explosives Act 1875 and remain in custody.
Writing on social media, they said: "Tonight (Monday, November 4), following reports of fireworks being thrown from a moving vehicle at Bridges Retail Park Whitehaven, two males have been arrested for offences under S.80 of the Explosives Act 1875, throwing of fireworks on a street or public place.
"They will remain in custody whilst enquiries are completed.
"We understand this may have caused distress to members of the public and we would like to reassure you that action is being taken.
"Officers from the neighbourhood team along with the swift actions from response colleagues were able to identify, locate, stop, and arrest these individuals and the vehicle involved."
