THE owner of a new fast food restaurant in Millom has thanked the ‘brilliant’ community for their continued support since opening.

Gavin Padans, owner of MMM Hungry, opened up the new takeaway on St George’s Terrace on September 9.

The takeaway offers a wide range of food options from breakfasts and smash burgers to jacket potatoes, pancakes, wraps, and even a Sunday roast.

“The demand to start with was pretty intense but the community support has been brilliant,” Gavin said.

“Since we opened, we’ve started a Sunday lunch delivery as well as a pay forward scheme in shop because we noticed a lot of the community are struggling with the current cost-of-living crisis.

“It’s been pretty smooth sailing so far; I’ve just been working really long hours. It’s nice that the local community are supporting everything, and they appreciate what we’re trying to do.

“We try to accommodate whatever the public are after.”

MMM Hungry source their produce locally from independent Cumbrian businesses.

All of their meat comes from Southward’s Butchers in Askam whilst the pies are supplied from Harry's Pantry in Kendal.

For Halloween, Gavin and his team created a monster mash burger comprising of black garlic chicken topped with black cheddar, and a Jack-o’-lantern burger with two beef patties topped with American cheese and jalapeno cream cheese.

In the last week, he has also added seven new items including a vegan sausage sandwich, aromatic vegan burger, Philly cheese stake wrap and a garlic cheese chicken wrap.

They are all available for delivery via FoodHub and in store.

Gavin added: “We’re looking at changing the menu for the New Year. We’ve analysed what is and isn’t selling well and are changing our menu for what people are actually asking for.

“Going forward, we’ll be looking to add a few more different kinds of jacket potatoes. Next month, we’re also looking at launching a festive afternoon tea for the Christmas season.

“Maybe after 12 months, we’ll look at extending or even open another takeaway.

“It’s an exciting time for us. Business is thriving at the moment.”
