Cumberland Council is set to begin resurfacing Overend Road in Whitehaven.

The work, which starts on Monday, November 11, is part of ongoing efforts to improve the road network.

Estimated to take five days, weather permitting, the resurfacing project will be conducted in two phases, requiring a full road closure.

Work will take place Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with no weekend work planned.

Residents of Overend Road are asked to find alternative parking during work hours and to move their vehicles by 8am each day.

The council has requested that the public communicate specific access needs to on-site staff and they've provided assurance that vehicle access for residents and businesses will be 'maintained whenever possible'.

Emergency services, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists will have full access.

Recycling and waste collections will continue as normal, and information about bus stop changes will be available at current stops.

For inquiries about bus routes, passengers should contact Stagecoach.

Cumberland Council has notified the public that businesses will stay open during the project and urges people to continue supporting them.

The council has thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the project and they have apologised for any inconvenience caused.
