A new community shop aiming to help locals has opened its doors in south Cumbria.
Millom and Around the Combe C.I.C, established in July this year, celebrated the grand opening of their second donation shop at 32 Lapstone Road on Friday.
This expansion aims to enhance and broaden the services offered by their original shop on St. George’s Terrace, which first opened its doors in August.
Millom Town Mayor Simone Faulkner inaugurated the new shop with group directors Kath Edwards, Sarah Sharpe, Sue Dust, and Simon Chapman left 'thrilled' by the overwhelming support received during the opening event.
Customers, friends, and newcomers alike were welcomed with a glass of fizz and a complimentary bouquet of flowers donated by Millom’s 'One Stop Shop'.

A spokesperson from MAATC-CIC said: "The launch of the second shop signifies a commitment to furthering our mission of providing affordable items to all members of the community.
"This expansion allows for a wider range of products, including furniture, to be offered, ensuring that even those on the tightest of budget can improve their living spaces."
The continued donations of items enables the team to have an 'eclectic' range of items for sale, generating crucial funds to sustain their efforts in serving the local community.

"Despite this achievement, the team remains dedicated to our original shop, which has quickly evolved into a hub of compassion and connection, going beyond simply offering pre-loved items.
"It has blossomed into a nurturing environment where customers visit often, some daily to receive a heartfelt greeting and genuine concern for their well-being.
"Our mission is to ensure that every person departs feeling uplifted and more positive than when they arrived."
The group promised that they have many exciting plans for the future and are eager to continue serving the community with 'passion and dedication'.
