Households in Cumberland that have not responded to the annual canvass may soon receive a visit from a council official.
The canvass aims to ensure electoral registration details are up to date, and canvassers, employees of Cumberland Council, will be knocking on doors until November 22.
Residents are reminded that all canvassers will carry photo ID, will never enter any property, and will record responses on a tablet device.
If there is no response, a further visit may be scheduled or a 'calling card' with further instructions will be posted.
The annual canvass takes place to keep the electoral register up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered, giving them the opportunity to apply.
Last month, letters, emails, and text messages were sent to some residents, and household visits are now underway.
Residents can still respond to any communications they’ve received via letter, text, or email, and if a response is received before a scheduled visit, the household will be removed from the list.
Andrew Seekings, the council’s Electoral Registration Officer, said: "Thank you to all those households who’ve already responded to the annual canvass, ensuring that important electoral information is accurate and up to date.
"If you’ve not yet responded, then we ask you do, following the instructions on the letter, email or text you’ve received or by confirming your details to the council representative who visits your household."
