A WEST Cumbrian business has seen fast growth since launching during the Covid pandemic.

Arborscape is currently based in Lamplugh but has plans to expand to new premises in Lillyhall.

The company offers tree surgery and ground maintenance services for commercial and domestic clients throughout Cumbria.

In December the firm will move to the larger facility at Lillhall with hopes of further company expansion.

Sam Tagett, the director at Arborscape said: "We originally started up as a tree surgery company at the back end of Covid in Northwest Cumbria.

"We took one employee on and just started small, we began to expand the company into different sectors like environmental services, ground maintenance, and invasive species management.

"We still do the tree surgery side but have progressed into earth services and landscaping.

"We've now got nine full-time employees, three of whom were previously unemployed.

"In the next couple of months, we'll be moving into our new, larger, premises."

Arborscape has been involving itself with the community through different projects. They hope that these sorts of projects will reap benefits for the area they are based.

One such project was a nature school at St Patrick's Primary School at Cleator Moor.

The company operates as far north as the Scottish borders and further south into places like Barrow.

Mr Tagett continued: "Before I started the business, I travelled the world doing garden design, management, and horticultural work.

"I came back to Cumbria before Covid and was meant to travel to America, but this was stopped when the pandemic began.

"The council asked if I was available to do tree surgery work, so I stepped in to help on a self-employed basis and stayed there for about two years.

"After I left the council, I decided to set up my own company and just started with a Ford Transit and wood chipper.

"The work we had booked got cleared in a few weeks, and it just slowly began to grow larger from there."
