Traffic around Frizington is set to be disrupted by road closures as part of a £1 million road upgrade on the A5086.

The highways team will also operate under two-way traffic lights.

From Friday, October 11, to Sunday, October 13, a full road closure will be enforced from Church Street to the Frizington Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC).

Phase five of the road improvement works will commence on Monday, October 14, and is anticipated to end by Saturday, October 19.

This will involve a closure from the Frizington HWRC to Kenmare Tyres, depending on weather conditions.

Consequently, access to the Frizington HWRC may be restricted until Monday, October 21, between 7am and 7pm.

While the HWRC will stay open, access cannot be assured.

Alternatively, people should consider using services at Clay Flatts HWRC or Maryport HWRC.

School buses will be permitted to pass during peak times from 7.45am to 8.30am and 3pm to 3.45pm to minimise disruption to school runs.

Cumberland Council has asked the public to be 'patient and respectful' towards the project staff, reminding people of its zero-tolerance policy on threatening or abusive behaviour.

The council expressed gratitude to the community for their ongoing support and patience while apologising for any inconvenience caused by the 'essential' road improvements.

The upgrades are expected to enhance road safety along the highway network.

The council has advised residents to contact its highways hotline on 0300 373 3736 for more information.
