WHITEHAVEN Town Council's deputy mayor, councillor Chris Hayes has presented local business, Bennett Brothers with an award.

This is for their outstanding efforts for the town during 2024.

In addition to supplying the plants for all the flower baskets and planters in Whitehaven, Bennetts also stepped up this year to take over the planting and maintenance of the flower beds in St Nicholas Gardens and their efforts have won many admirers this year.

Chris Hayes the deputy mayor: "Since its inception, the town council have worked hard to maintain the gardens which are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, but since Bennett Brothers took over responsibility for the maintenance of the flower beds earlier this year, the gardens have been awash with colours.

"They even planted circular beds in RAF roundel colours for the anniversary of D-Day.

"As a result, I wanted to show our appreciation for going above and beyond in their efforts for the town as we are delighted with the results."
