St Bees School hosted a friendly Cumbria and Newcastle volleyball tournament last month and put on an impressive performance.
The event marked the start of the volleyball season, with the St Bees team finishing second overall.
They were only beaten by Whitehaven Waves, who took home the shield after a series of competitive matches.
The St Bees team had been training together for just two weeks, with only two hours of practice.
Despite this, they won key matches and took sets off seasoned adult teams, showcasing their potential.
Coach Vanessa Johnstone said: "I’m so proud of how well they worked together to achieve this success.
"Their commitment and synergy on the court were outstanding, especially given the short time they’ve had together.
"It’s a fantastic start to the season."
Marta was named player of the tournament for her powerful jump serves, which challenged even the most experienced male players.
New team member Artur and team captain Andrii also performed exceptionally, with their relentless blocking contributing to the team’s strong finish.
St Bees School extended congratulations to Whitehaven Waves on their victory and thanked all participating teams.
Special thanks were given to Judy from Carlisle for her assistance in organising the tournament.
The school is now looking forward to more thrilling performances and continued success in the volleyball season.
