Driver who bought ketamine resigned from Sellafield after drugs test

A MOTORIST who was under the influence of ketamine on a garage forecourt has since resigned from his job at Sellafield after failing a drugs test.

Morgan Heslop, 26, was seen on CCTV pulling onto the forecourt of the Pelican Garage in Whitehaven on March 22.

Heslop was moving the VW Polo in the way of members of the public. He got out of the vehicle and was ‘extremely unsteady’ on his feet, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

'Lairy' mourner bared bum at staff in The Little Arms, Cleator Moor

A MOURNER became ‘lairy’ and abusive following her mother's funeral and bared her bottom at pub staff, a court heard.

Catherine Benson, 54, was at The Little Arms on Trumpet Road in Cleator Moor,  on the afternoon of July 30.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates' Court, said police were called to the pub over a report of two females being aggressive on the premises.

They were shouting aggressively and lifting their skirts up to show their bottoms. They were asked to leave because staff were becoming uncomfortable with their behaviour.

Man caused dogs to suffer serious facial injuries in field sports

A DOG owner who took part in field sports has admitted causing unnecessary suffering to three Patterdale Terriers which suffered serious facial injuries.

Peter Bewsher, 35, failed to seek veterinary care for the horrific injuries to the three dogs and also failed to prevent them from engaging with wild mammals, knowing the dogs’ propensity to fight.

Bewsher pleaded guilty to three charges of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal when he appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Man used kitchen knife to damage cars in Workington after bingo win

A DRUNK man who went out with a large kitchen knife to damage vehicles after winning at bingo had no memory of the incident, a court heard.

David Scott, 35, had been out drinking in Workington before arming himself with the blade and going out to damage vehicles in the early hours of September 7.

He targeted nine vehicles in total, using the knife to scratch the paintwork or slash the tyres of the vehicles, causing £2,473 worth of damage.

Driver whose licence was revoked crashed at A595 Black Beck roundabout

A TYPE one diabetic whose driving licence had been revoked crashed his car while driving towards a roundabout at 55mph in snowy conditions, a court heard.

Daniel Durose, 33, had been driving a Volvo on the A595 at the Black Beck roundabout in Beckermet near Sellafield on February 29.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates’ Court, said the weather conditions were snowy and a road traffic collision had taken place.

Police were alerted to the collision and saw a vehicle had been abandoned on the roundabout. Durose was located at his home address.

Sellafield worker suspected of drink-driving refused to give sample

A NUCLEAR worker who refused to provide a breath sample would lose his job if he was given a custodial sentence, his solicitor said.

Sean Barwise, 50, was suspected of driving a BMW in Whitehaven while under the influence of alcohol on September 2.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates’ Court, said police located the vehicle parked outside Barwise’s home address.

The brakes were still warm and the vehicle appeared to have two flat tyres. Barwise ‘eventually’ answered the door.
