The Park Whitehaven reunion will be a nostalgia filled night

For one night, the DJs who provided the soundtrack to many weekends in the town in the 90s will be returning for a reunion of The Park nightclub.

Stuart Wright, resident DJ at The Park from 1993-1997, has organised the night to take club goers on a trip through time. 

He said: "It's just going to be constantly, right to the end, classic anthems that people liked.

"It's going to be like a good six hours and it's going to be full of people that went there in the day, so people will be able to reconnect that way with the nostalgia side."

All 180 tickets for the reunion night were sold within 14 hours, highlighting how much of a desire there was among locals for this sort of event to go ahead.

For Stuart, organising this event wasn't about reliving his youth, it's about the nostalgia and bringing a good club night to Whitehaven.

It's going to be as authentic as possible with no 'modern' music played, those attending will only hear music that would have played back in The Park's heyday.

DJs playing on the night are Stuart, Daz Cherry, Jagga, Danny Maudling, and Simon Kennedy.

Stuart said: "We'll never ever recreate those nights in the 90s because it was a different era altogether, music was different, going out was different and all that sort of thing.

"But the things that we can put in place, I think we have put in place and hopefully the proof will be in the pudding on the night."

The hope is that if this first reunion organised by Stuart is a success then it'll become an annual one-off event that might expand depending on local interest in it.

In the future this could include a venue with a higher capacity so more people can attend as well as bringing in acts from the era to perform. 

He said: "I would love to be able to do a yearly event where it's the in thing and people go. But again, it's for the people of Whitehaven and the surrounding areas, really."

The reunion will be held at the Yellow Earl in Whitehaven on September 27
