A MAN has denied having an offensive weapon outside a McDonald’s restaurant where children were present.
Jonathan Huntley, 32, is accused of having a knuckle duster outside the fast food restaurant at Flatt Walks in Whitehaven on Friday, June 14.
He pleaded not guilty to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.
Pamela Fee, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates’ Court, said the incident had taken place with a number of people present, including children.
The case was sent to Carlisle Crown Court. A plea and trial preparation hearing was scheduled for October 7.
Huntley, of Glenholme, Foxhouses Road, Whitehaven, was granted unconditional bail.
