WE'RE now in September so autumn is just weeks away.

Autumn is such a wonderful time when we begin to look forward to special days like Halloween and Bonfire Night.

The leaves begin to turn brown and the sun begins to hide behind clouds as winter slowly approaches.

However, it is also such a nice time to get outside.

There are some great places to go right here in West Cumbria to enjoy some stunning autumn views.

We've created a list of some of the nicest places to visit during the autumn months.

Whitehaven to St Bees Coastal Path

This stunning coastal path takes you across an untouched piece of West Cumbrian coastline.

Hikers can take in breathtaking views looking towards Scotland in the north and the Isle of Man in the west.

The route takes you through Fleswick Bay, a wonderful hidden beach that makes you feel like you're in the prehistoric era.

Derwentwater

A route that takes you right around one of the most famous and beautiful places in the Lake District.

The walk begins on the shores of the lake in Keswick and takes you on a 10-mile route around the charming and mystical Lakeland landscape.

If you're visiting the area for the weekend then this definitely isn't one to be missed.

Allonby

This wonderful seaside town is a great place to go to enjoy the autumn scenery.

There are also an array of pubs and eateries where you can tuck into a hearty meal after a stroll by the sea.

Longlands Lake

This hidden gem which is just a stone's throw from Egremont and Cleator Moor offers some of the best autumnal scenery in Cumbria.

For many years the area operated as a mine but when it fell into disuse almost 100 years ago the area flooded and a large pond was created.

Longlands is now home to an array of wildlife and plants and is simply spectacular during the autumn months.

Beckermet Coastal Path

This walk covers a small, hidden-away path overlooking the dramatic coastline of South West Cumbria.

The walk begins at the church outside of Beckermet and takes walkers on a journey through the countryside, on an old railway line.
