THE school summer holidays are in full swing and many of us will be spending more time with our families.

The Rum Story
This interactive museum gives a glimpse into life in Whitehaven in the 18th.
This was a time when the town was a bustling seaport, importing sugar, rum, and molasses from different parts of the globe.
Visitors will see the area through the eyes of the Jefferson family who ran a successful business from the exact place where The Rum Story is located.
The Beacon
This harbourside museum contains four floors of family-friendly galleries and exhibitions.
Visitors can find out about the history of the harbour and also the mining heritage of the area.
People will also be educated on the history of Cumberland in general, along with the Lake District and coastal landscapes.
The Gaiety
If you're a movie lover then this historic cinema is most definitely a great place to enjoy a few hours with your loved ones.
This popular attraction has the feel of a vintage cinema and a wide range of snacks and beverages are available.
A whole host of the latest blockbusters will be on show throughout the summer months.
Castle Park
This lovely town centre park is overlooked by Whitehaven Castle.
It comprises of a play area and playing fields. There is also a bandstand and a woodland area to walk through.
The park is popular with both residents and tourists alike.
Whitehaven Harbour
The harbourside is arguably one of the best parts of Whitehaven.
It is a great place to enjoy a walk or visit the array of bars and eateries.
The two 18th-century lighthouses have also recently been renovated.
