A CUMBRIAN hairdresser has received an award.

The team at House of Swain, on Strand Street in Whitehaven, has been acknowledged for their exceptional work with hair extensions.

Jennifer Swain, the salon owner, has been running the hair business for almost 20 years and has built a good reputation in the area.

She said: "We work with a brand called Great Lengths Hair Extensions. There was an awards ceremony where salons from all over the UK were invited and there were different titles up for grabs.

"On the night we were awarded the UK's Best Hair Extension Salon, because of the services we offer our clients.

"We offer Klarna payment options so people can pay in instalments, we've got a high level of service and look after our clients.

"It was amazing, not only to get awarded for my work but also the hard work of all the staff, it was a team effort.

"Customers will come into the shop for hair extensions to be taken out, another staff member will then colour their hair, and someone else will be doing the ordering and I'll usually be the one fitting the extensions.

"It was very much a team effort. It was nice as it reflects the relationship of the staff and to get to have something like that was good."

Jennifer has been working out of her current Strand Street location for 13 years but has been operating as a business in the Whitehaven area for almost two decades.

She said that 'the business has been built from the bottom up' as she started working on her own in a small studio/salon.

Eventually, more people began working with Jennifer and the team has grown to ten people now.

She continued: "We get a lot of repeat clients, our clients have been really proud of us for receiving the award. They're happy to come to us for the service and they said that they believed they would get something like this because of the service we offer them.

"We're hoping to launch loyalty schemes for our clients, which give them all the perks of visiting the salon and we're also looking forward to celebrating 20 years in business."
