THE Flower and Veg Show will be returning to Whitehaven town centre this summer.

The event, which is organised by Whitehaven Town Council, will take place in the marquee at St Nicholas Gardens on September 7 between 10am and 3pm.

A spokesperson from Whitehaven Town Council said: "It's the second Flower and Veg Show with the first taking place last year.

"We had some fantastic entrants last year, with one person bringing along a marrow that was three feet long.

"It was fabulous, there were lots of good entrants in the flower category as well. The Victoria Sponge that won the show was just beautiful.

"We're hoping that people will get involved, these types of events are great for the community because people can participate.

"People from the local area will have either grown the produce or made it themselves.

"It's great to get the community involved and to bring people into the town centre where they can engage with the shops.

"We've also got some street theatre on this time which is themed around flowers and vegetables, it'll be very funny."
