Cumbria Tourism has teamed up with a range of local producers to create a selection of 50th anniversary themed products - with each item sold contributing to the organisation’s charitable fund to support new tourism talent.

The latest addition is Hawkshead Relish’s Cumbrian Golden Chutney, which is now available to buy at both Tebay Services (southbound and northbound) and Rheged.
Similar to a piccalilli, but crafted with dried fruits as well as vegetables, this golden chutney has a much softer finish and is being billed as the perfect accompaniment for cheese, pork pies, cold meats and salads.
It sold out within the first two weeks of launching and is proving to be very popular. With another batch on the way, people can pre-order online, or by emailing info@hawksheadrelish.com.
Cumbria Tourism is also in talks with other major retailers locally to bring other 50th anniversary products county-wide.
The full range includes Spirit of Cumbria, produced by Ulverston-based Shed One.

This refreshing botanical spirit or vodka is described as being perfect over ice or served with tonic and has been created using dried and locally grown, foraged botanicals by members of the Cumbria Tourism team - with a little help from the experts at Shed One.
Meanwhile, Herdwick Distillery/Lakeland Artisan have created a 20cl bottle of a special Damson Yan Gin.

Blended in Kendal, this unique fusion of flavours combines the richness of local damsons with carefully selected botanicals.
There are also two beers available as part of the 50th anniversary range, with Bowness Bay Brewing producing a pale ale – called Fell Explorer - using high-quality, sustainable English ingredients. It’s currently available to order in cask or keg.
Rounding off the line-up is Hawkshead Brewery’s special anniversary-themed Cumbrian Gold. As well as a 330ml bottle of the ‘golden’ lager, casks and kegs of Cumbrian Gold are available for the hospitality sector.
All the producers are donating part of each sale to Cumbria Tourism’s 50th anniversary charitable fund, which is being run in conjunction with Cumbria Community Foundation.
Recognising the barriers faced by some as they contemplate a career in tourism and hospitality, the fund will provide financial support for specialist equipment, training, study materials, travel costs, and more.
In turn, it’s hoped the extra support will enhance in-county opportunities and encourage a new raft of people who are interested in pursuing tourism and hospitality careers but have previously been put off by the associated costs.
