WHITEHAVEN's town crier shouted the Traders Markets this week.
The stand-in crier performed it due to an absence from the usual crier, Marc Goodwin.
Anthony Payne shouted on the steps of St Nicholas' Church at 11am while the markets took place.
The Traders Markets took place in the gardens surrounding the church on Thursday, May 29.
Mr Payne said: "It was super, I really enjoyed it and I think it's excellent that we keep this tradition going.
"It's something which is historic and I think a lot of people seem to show an interest.
"I'm going to take a look around the markets shortly. I think this is a good thing for the town and we should try anything which brings people in and creates contact between people.
"I've done the shout once before, apparently the usual town crier wasn't able to come and I offered following a call out on social media."
Gerard Richardson, of the Office of the town crier added: "Anthony's fantastic, to step into the town crier role for the second time in six months with no warning or real practice is great.
"He's got the confidence and the voice to do it and he looks the part."
