THE Whitehaven Town Council mayor's allowance was agreed upon for the coming year.
The decision was made at the annual meeting at The Beacon Portal on Wednesday, May 29.
The council was asked to consider a repeat of the mayor's allowance as the council can pay the mayor an amount for the position of office.
The amount agreed was £3,063 and the mayor can be asked to provide receipts for expenses and asked how the money was spent.
The mayor presents a special role to the public which is why they are paid an allowance.
Some of the ways the money can be used are for attending events and donating to charities.
The newly appointed mayor Graham Roberts put forward the decision that Chris Hayes proposed. And a unanimous decision was made.
