A MAGNIFICENT beast will bring some mythical magic to a town centre event next week.
Dreygo the Dragon will appear at the Whitehaven Traders’ Market in St Nicholas’ Gardens on Thursday, May 30.
The 18-foot long animatronic dragon provided by Hire Dinosaurs is set to bring larger-than-life, interactive, walkabout entertainment that will delight children and adults of all ages.
He will flap his wings, breathe smoke from his nostrils and rear up and roar for his audience.
Chris Hayes, mayor of Whitehaven, said: “It looks absolutely amazing. I think the kids will love it and the adults will too. It’s half term so it’s the perfect time. I can’t wait for it.”
Marlene Jewell, Whitehaven Town Council clerk, said: "We can’t wait for Dreygo to come. I’m sure it will amazing and everybody will love it."
The Traders’ Market will run from 10am until 4pm. Dreygo the Dragon will be doing three performances at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
Exhibitors on the day include: Warwick Bridge Corn Mill (bread), Haverigg Smokery, Mawbray Cheese, Cumbria Coastal Kitchen, Doggy Deli, Dosa Chasaka Street Food, Crest Candles, Keekle Art Glass, Busy Little Crafts, Cakes To Go, Bankyard Creations, Jen Taylor Crafts, Diane Hunter Art, Made by TOI, Finishing Touch, Salvation Army and ALB Emporium.
St Nicholas’ café is running a special offer from Monday to Friday next week - children aged 12 and under accompanied by an adult eat for £1.
