A WEST Cumbrian man has painted his house in the colours of the Palestinian flag to show solidarity with the people there.
Kevin Blacklock spent over a week painting his house in Distington and says he even wants to rename his home, ‘Free Palestine House’.
He said: “I've painted my house in support of the Palestinian cause. It was just in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
“I’ve seen other houses that have been painted in other countries and I wanted to do a similar thing.”
More than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel deployed a full-scale military offence on the Gaza Strip, according to local health officials.
It was sparked by a Hamas attack on October 7 in which militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted around 250 hostages.
Kevin, an internet entrepreneur, added: “I was outraged by the injustice of the people who have been killed. All those children – it’s terrible. I feel an affinity with downtrodden people. It’s just my personality – I’m outraged by injustice.
“I totally condemn the October 7 attacks on Israel, but at the same time my heart is with the Palestinian people, and the horrible injustices they are currently facing, as with all downtrodden people across the world.”
