PLANS to turn a prominent town centre pub into offices have been put forward.
The former Pack Horse pub on Lowther Street in Whitehaven is set to be refurbished and transformed into commercial offices.
Housebuilder Gary Reed of High Grange Development Ltd is behind the plans, which have been lodged with Cumberland Council.
The grade-two listed three-storey building has stood empty since June 2022 when the pub ceased trading.
A full refurbishment is proposed throughout the building. A new meeting room for visitors would be created at the ground floor level and a larger storage area would be created on the second floor.
The plans say: “It is considered that the proposed refurbishment of this outdated commercial property will serve to enhance and contribute positively to the listed status and Whitehaven town centre conservation area.
“It is considered that the proposed refurbishment will have a positive effect on the grade-two listed status of the site and immediately adjacent listed buildings.”
