WHITEHAVEN Coastguard has been conducting a training exercise in Workington.
The scenario involved them hearing shouts for help from a coastal path.
A coastguard spokesperson said: "As part of last night's training, the officer in charge (OIC) received information of 'shouts for help from the coastal cliff path at Workington quarry.'
"Four search teams consisting of rescue officers from both Whitehaven and Maryport teams were deployed (each made up of search technicians and a search team leader. All casualty carers as is our protocol).
"With the support and guidance from two of our local full-time coastguard search advisers (CGSA), the OIC coordinated from the Forward Control Point (FCP).
"In the dark, wet, and windy conditions, hasty searches across varying terrain were conducted of the quarry, coastal paths, beach areas, and nearby woodland, until a "find" was made within 60 minutes of arrival on the scene.
"Then followed 30 minutes of medical assessment, treatment, and extraction, with the casualty safely packaged into a stretcher and with the aid of rope work was recovered across and up a boulder field of rock armor back to the FCP."
