A WHITEHAVEN housing estate is one step closer to getting its own play park after a residents group reached a key milestone.
Bransty Community Group has been given community interest company (CIC) status which means it can now apply for funding and work towards its long-term goal of getting a play park on the estate.
Bransty play park has stood empty for a number of years but it is hoped there will be a space for children to enjoy again now the community group can look into funding options.
Joseph Ghayouba, who represents Bransty on Cumberland Council, said: "This is a big milestone for Bransty Community Group as it now allows the group to seek funding towards its long-term goal of getting a play park and any other projects.
“Well done to Louise, Emma, Leanne and Ruth for persevering with the application. If you are a Bransty resident and would like to get involved, our next meeting is at the Ivy on March 7 at 7pm."
