A THEATRE school from Cumbria has bagged Best Showcase Award at a recent event for a Dragons’ Den backed theatre school franchise network.
The west Cumbria branch of Razzamataz secured the highly coveted award in the national awards celebration, which saw more than 60 schools eligible to participate.
Matt Lee-Alliston, owner of a production company and professional host, was tasked with picking the winning entry. He said: “Creativity, dedication and talent are just a few of the ingredients needed to produce a Razzamataz show.
“As a judge of this award, every year I am in awe of the principals and their commitment to producing theatre pieces that not only are exceptionally good, evidenced by the amazing reviews, but also make a significant impact on the local community.”
The entry from Razzamataz West Cumbria was commended for its display of diversity, inclusion, creativity, collaboration, impressive staging, costuming and PR and marketing.
Mr Lee-Alliston said: “But what stood out for me the most was this one simple statement.
“The children’s faces say it all. Everybody was smiling and just doing what they love. If this doesn’t succinctly describe what every child should be feeling when they are on the stage, then I don’t know what does.”
The team at Razzamataz West Cumbria aim to balance the achievement and ensure the showcase was fun and a positive learning experience for all children.
Mr Lee-Alliston said: “This achievement is a testament to the commitment and passion of Principal Matty and the entire Razzamataz West Cumbria team. Their dedication to fostering a positive and inclusive environment where every child can shine on stage truly embodies the spirit of Razzamataz,”
Matty Rayson, principal of Razzamataz West Cumbria said: “The most important part of all of this is the recognition for my students, and this Award proves how committed and hardworking they all are,
“I was delighted to receive this Award on their behalf, and it has inspired me and my team to reach new levels going forwards.”
