A DARTS player who has seen great success so far has big hopes for the future.
PJ Woods, 27, of Hensingham, Whitehaven, has spoken about his career so far, his plans to make his career flourish, and how his love for the sport began.
Mr Woods said: "I was never good at maths at school, and it started showing so when I was 13 my Nana and Granda got me a dart board.
"This helped me to learn how to add and subtract, I started enjoying darts and I was playing it a lot in the house, and it started going from there as I became more confident."
PJ explained that he started going to Hensingham Rugby League Club to play.
He says that there are various ways that people can get involved in darts, either by going on their own and doing competitions or how he did it by joining a team.
After performing well at the club in Hensingham he was asked to play for the county team, this then progressed to playing singles.
Mr Woods continued: "One of my most recent achievements was attending the Q School for the PDC, this is the Professional Darts Corporation, and the Q School is where you go to qualify for the professional tour.
"I missed out on the second phase as the leg difference didn't go my way, but it was a good experience and something that I've always wanted to do.
"When you walk into that room and see people that you look up to in the Premier League it's exciting to think that you're playing in the same competitions as them.
"I've played against Glen Durant who was world champion at the Isle of Man Open when I was 18, I've played against Phil Taylor in my hometown at The Solway Hall in 2017 which was amazing.
"I'm coming up to 28 years old and I still don't think I've produced what I can produce yet.
"My aim for the future is to get to a decent level and just keep on playing, I've got personal hopes of getting my tour card one day, but I've also got my hopes of doing my friends and family proud."
