MESSAGES of support have poured in for King Charles following his shock cancer diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that the monarch, 75, was diagnosed while being treated in hospital for a benign enlarged prostate.
Gerard Richardson MBE, deputy lord lieutenant for Cumbria, said: “My heart goes out to him, not only as one of his deputy lieutenants but as a cancer patient myself.
“Cancer messes with your head and for the King to have to deal with it all in the public eye is really sad so I wish him and Her Majesty all the very best.”
Chris Hayes, mayor of Whitehaven, said: “I was really shocked when I heard the news. Anybody who has been through it, knows how hard it is. It’s better they have found it now. I’m sure like a lot of others, he will come out stronger. I wish him all the best.”
