POLICE in West Cumbria have been tackling parking issues in Cleator Moor.
Officers were out on patrol on High Street and Birks Road and several vehicles were issued with tickets.
The constabulary has reminded the public that there are free parking places available around the town.
A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "You told us that there are parking issues outside of Greggs on High Street and the chemist on Birks Road in Cleator Moor.
"PC 2503 and PCSO 5357 have been out and about with the enforcement officers targeting these areas. Numerous cars were issued with tickets due to parking on double yellow lines.
"This may seem like a quick trip into the shops but parking your vehicle in this manner causes issues to pedestrians and numerous cars parking in the same way obstructs drivers when pulling out of junctions.
"There is lots of free parking available in Cleator Moor which is suitable for visiting the shops.
"We will keep patrolling these areas with an aim to disrupt and deter."
