A SOCIAL group in West Cumbria has announced the return of their annual festival.
West Coast Gamers and West Coast Cosplay will be hosting their Minicon Festival in 2024.
The event will be held on Saturday, February 24.
Minicon is a small version of the Comicon festivals seen in towns and cities across the world.
The festivals celebrate a range of different media including comic books, TV shows, movies, video games, trading cards, and much more.
The event started back in 2022 and became a success amongst the gaming and entertainment community in the area.
Darren Powe, of West Coast Cosplay said: "Minicon is back for 2024, and this year it's even bigger. Minicon is a comic convention held in Whitehaven.
"There will be free-to-enter cosplay competitions for kids and adults with a trophy and a cash prize for first and second in each category. This year there is also the addition of a couples/duo cosplay competition.
"The impossible quiz will return with a cash prize for the winner. The art competition will also return with an adult and kids section, the winners will get an arty prize.
"West Coast Gamers will have a whole gaming area this year showing off card games, tabletop games, and more. As usual, there will be trade stalls from local businesses, artists, authors, and artisans."
Last year, the organisers moved the event from The Marchon Club to a bigger venue in Whitehaven, The Solway Hall due to high demand.
West Coast Cosplay is a society for people who like to dress up as their favourite characters from TV shows, movies, and games.
However, it is distinguished from fancy dress as cosplay allows for the person to become the character they are dressing as by mimicking their traits and attributes.
Many people who attend the Minicon event come in cosplay and there are competitions held for the most impressive costume.
West Coast Gamers offers people the chance to come and play an array of different card and table games with those who have similar interests.
