TODAY we wanted to take a look back at a school the heart of one town for generations.
Ehenside School was apart of the community of Cleator Moor for decades.
The school was first built in 1958 and would serve children and young people of the town for years to come.
The school opened on October 20 and was located on Towerson Street, it was built on grounds that the people of Cleator Moor had previously used as allotments.
When the school first opened over 500 young people attended under the ruling of head master Mr Eyre.
The school closed in the late 2000s and at this time the head teacher was Mr Orton.
In 2008 the school closed five decades after it first opened as students from Ehenside and Wyndham School in Egremont formed the new West Lakes Academy.
When the school closed there were plans to build a sport and leisure centre with hopes of creating new jobs and investment into the area, however, these plans were dismissed in 2016.
People of various age groups in Cleator Moor will have their own fond memories of the school and here at The Whitehaven News we wanted to share some with you.
We've searched our archives to find some of the most interesting photos from over the years, we hope that they will help to rekindle some happy thoughts for many of you.
We can see a dog show being held at the school, year 9 pupils taking part in a drum class, students making wooden sculptures for an art festival and a girl with a mechanical doll whic showed them what it was like to look after a baby.
Other photos show the school back in 2004 and children taking part in an Indian dance workshop.
