A CUMBRIAN MP has shown their support for the Civil Nuclear Roadmap being published.
This week, the minister for nuclear Andrew Bowie MP published the Civil Nuclear Roadmap.
Copeland MP Trudy Harrison described this as "the most comprehensive, all-encompassing direction of travel for all things nuclear."
She highlighted aspects such as better collaboration between civil and defence, doubling the workforce, an SMR fleet on the way, and hundreds of millions for domestic nuclear fuels as key points of the roadmap.
Mrs Harrison says that there is no path to net zero without nuclear.
She said: "The journey began at Calder Hall and I remain confident the renaissance will begin here too.
"I reminded the minister of this, suggested the road in the Roadmap may refer to the A595 (which needs upgrading I know, I’m on it, especially at Grizebeck), and sought his assurance that we will be at the forefront of his mind when making decisions about new missions."
