POLICE officers in Copeland have wished the public all the best for Christmas and the New Year through a poem.
They have provided warnings and advice to the public to follow this Christmas week through the message posted on their social media pages.
A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Merry Christmas from the Copeland Neighbourhood policing team to you, we want you all to stay safe so here’s what to do.
"Keep your windows and doors locked and secure, never drink and drive if you’ve had too much liquor, know your limits and don’t overdo it, think before you drink, or end your night banged up in the clink.
"If it looks like trouble just walk away, remember one punch can change lives and ruin more than your day.
"Drugs are for losers so just say no, do you really want to risk your job and maybe much more?
"With festive blue lights, we’ll patrol with care, officers on duty spreading goodwill in the air.
"Through the silent night, our sirens softly sing, a safe and peaceful time to every community we hope to bring.
"With courage and compassion, in the cold and the snow, we’ll ensure safety and peace as Christmas lights glow.
"And should you need us, we will be right here, ensuring that you have a Christmas without fear.
"In the spirit of giving, we protect and serve with all our might.
"So Merry Christmas from Cumbria Police, and to all a good night."
"Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas from Whitehaven Police Station."
